New Song - January

I just uploaded January (featuring Calendar Girl) to the Complete category of the Downloads module. This one came together fast, so there isn't even a rough version (until this one becomes the rough version, of course).

Kill Kill Kill done (for now)

I've finally moved a slightly-revamped version of Kill Kill Kill to the Complete category of the Downloads module. This is the version that we're submitting to the contest at ccmixter.org. Cross your fingers for us, and check out some of the other remixes for the contest (and in general) as well. There's some really good stuff up there.

I just added another version of Kill Kill Kill to the Rough section of the Downloads module. This time it features vocals by both DJ Vadim and Inna Barmash. It getting closer, but I think it still needs some work, so please feel free to make suggestions.

The ever-elusive "Why?" answered

I just filled out the "Our Purposes and Methods" section of the FAQ to try to answer just what we're trying to accomplish with this site, as well as how we're going about it. Overly idealistic, to be certain, but I tend to think that idealism belongs on the web.

New Link - David Byrne's unoffical thumbs-up

During his speech at SXSW, David Byrne made comments that sound to my biased ear as if he believes that the future of the music industry is similar to what we're trying to do here. I've added a link to the NY Times coverage of the story to the Web Links section.

Some things you can see, and some you can't

I've been hard at work on the site over the weekend (OK, at least a little bit) and there's been some progress. Some of it can be seen, such as:

Added a FAQ section for those who are having trouble listening to MP3s from the site
Added a forum for discussing the current and future functionality of the site
Reorganized the MP3s section of the downloads
Added a bunch of shrapnel song pieces

There are also some changes that you shouldn't see, such as:

Upgraded the gallery-nuke integration module
Fixed a phpNuke bug with topic segregation from the topics listing

As always, if there's anything that you have a problem with, or would like to see, drop me a message and I'll look into it.

Shrapnel Ahoy!

I just uploaded 18 pieces of shrapnel. These are songs that I hesitate to call songs, but are still more or less done. Most of them are shorter (they average around 1:30) and significantly more experimental than our other songs.

MP3s reorganized

I reorganized the MP3s sections of the downloads to enable some planned growth. I created a Complete section and moved Angel to it. Complete also contains a section called Shrapnel, which is where more experimental pieces will go.

New Song Up

I just uploaded the song Epiphany to the Downloads/Mp3s/Rough section. This one is especially fun since Theo wrote the original song and I just tweaked it, which is different from the way that we usually do the writing. Oddly, somewhere in my tweaking, I think I turned it into dub. As always, please let us know what you think.
