Review of Angel by GodsOfMusic.com

ARTIST: DOOM PATROL
SONG: ANGEL
GENRE: ELECTRONIC / INDUSTRIAL / GOTHIC
SIMILAR: YO MOMMA!...AND DEPECHE MODE...(MALE) MORCHEEBA...YUPPERS
My review for this song will go as follows:

1- I will state the song's coolness factors.
B- I will state the song's uncoolness factors.
iii- I will keep tapping my foot, but you won't be able to see me doing that, because, well, you just won't. So there.

A- The song starts out VERY Morcheeba like. It sort of reminds me of Trigger Hippie. The production, right from the begining, is great. It is exactly like production should be; invisible. A few seconds into the song, the chant of, "Angel" comes in. It becomes a rhythmic piece of the dark, murky, quasi-spiritual song. This song, like Morcheeba's songs, avoids the pit of soulessness that too many electronically produced songs fall into.

The vocals are good. Rhythmic and harmonic and soulful. Just like a vocalist should be. Saaaaaaaaaah-lick imagery. Hot damn! A vampiric love song, if ever there was one. This is the music that gets Anne Rice off. Well, if it had some more traditional instrumentation, maybe.

And now...

2nd- I have to dig for bad stuff, but I was always good at digging for gold in traffic, so why not here? I mean...uhm...

continuing on

There is a build up with about one minute left to go that I wanted to build larger. I expected it to explode, but it never even got close to smoking. Mt St Helens, it is not. A thirteen year old's first taste of Playboy, though, it is. Still good, but not as good as it COULD be. But that's fine, these guys seem to be just starting. With that in mind, having only that as a problem isn't all that bad.

The number coming after 2 and being neither 4, nor 5, nor 6, nor any number thereafter-
tap tap tap

My advice for these guys is to continue pushing the emotional limits of electronic music. Good direction.
